The Mexican government asked Venezuelan authorities to ensure the security of its diplomatic staff in Caracas, after the offices of the embassy were robbed on Wednesday. This is the third assault on the Mexican diplomatic mission so far this year, said the Mexican Foreign Ministry in a statement.
“In connection with the robbery (on Wednesday) at the offices of the Embassy of Mexico… a diplomatic note was sent reiterating the request that the relevant authorities deal with this case, and ensure the safety of our diplomats and relatives,” AFP reported.
The Mexican ministry clarified that its diplomatic representatives “were not hurt at all” because they were not at the embassy when it was robbed.
Mexico expressed “concern over the recent acts of violence that have hit diplomats in Caracas, and particularly those suffered by the Mexican staff.”
